Matt Jones was arrested this morning in Arkansas for possession. Rumored to be the white stuff, but who knows.
Notice the indifferent look on his face in his mugshot. Kinda reminds me of the way he looks after a huge win, or a devastating loss, or the day he was drafted, or when he was benched........

He does look rather stoned.
I don't think Jerry Jones would show any interest in Mattloaf, I'd say it's a safe bet that even he knows that Jones is not that good.

I hear it was around 4am this morning. I'm thinking he's STILL stoned as I write this.
Note to Matt. You're a loser. You ruined your chance to rule this town. I'm sorry, but a Southern white boy WR could have been the face of this team, but instead he's become one of the most hated players in our 13+ year history. Today's incident was just the proverbial last straw for this moron. (vince is getting angry)

Ok, it's confirmed it was snowing in Arkansas. This is straight from the Associated Press:
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Matt Jones faces a felony drug charge in his former college town after police say officers found him cutting up cocaine with a credit card on Thursday morning. The 25-year-old Jones and two other former Arkansas football players were inside a Toyota SUV in Fayetteville just after 12:40 a.m. Thursday when officers approached. Officers saw a card covered in a white powder in Jones' lap as he used a credit card to scrape it, a police report said.

I don't know...Jerry Jones is a former U of Arkansas football player. He did fire the legendary Tom Landry in order to hire his fellow Razorback team mate Jimmy Johnson to coach the Cowboys.....so Matt Jones with a blow bust...I don't see a problem. It's a Razorback thing.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Matt in Dallas. Not surprised one bit. I just don't think we'd get anything in a trade, though.

Maybe we are all mistaken and he was just trying to clean the powdered sugar off of his leg after a donut... And maybe the next job Matt Jones will have is flipping burgers at McDonald's. Instead of improving his chances to make the team, he was trying to "broaden his horizons." Would you like a hot apple pie with that Matt?

You are right..Matt was crafting a monochromatic mandala to express the complexity of his relationship with his universe. Using a controlled substance was an artistic metaphor expressing feelings of repression.
Free Matt! He is just misunderstood!

He'll land in Dallas, maybe with, say.. the Desperados of the Arena League. I can see him crashing into the wall alot trying to make a reception. Dallas QB Clint dolezel will ask him what happened.. "oh sorry bro, I'm rather high today" would be Matt's reply.

A bit off subject, but I found this interesting. There are three WRs in Jaguar history with over three 100-yard receiving games. Keenan and Jimmy, of course. And the third? Matt Jones.
Also, Matt ranks #4 all time for Jaguar receivers in touchdowns and #4 all time in yards per catch.
Granted, we're pulling from only 13 years of history with not too much competition beyond Keenan and Jimmy but I was still surprised by that.

I remember some time back when fans were complaining about his lack of interest in signing autographs. We had some fans from Arkansas tell us that it was "just Matt being Matt."
Guess that applies to cutting Coke with a credit card at 1240 in a car somewhere in Arkansas. Can someone tell me why they couldn't have done their business behind closed doors? I guess not using common sense is just Matt being Matt.

What a moron ... for all of that freakish athletic ability to never translate to production on the field is really unfortunate.

If I've said it once then I've said it a thousand times, he DOES have "freakish" speed... for a quarterback. The problem is:
#1 He wasn't drafted to be a quarterback, because...
#2 He wasn't that great of a quarterback, although he tells himself that he was, therefore...
#3 He never accepted his role as a wide receiver for the Jacksonville Jaguars, i.e. ....
#4 He snorts cocaine during the offseason.
The above is a numbered summary of Matt Jones career in the NFL. May it rest in peace.

i agree ben, freakish athletic ability should mean that if he would go head to head with any "hard worker" athlete, he would draw or win almost every time. if i was as tall as he was, i would atleast catch more balls out of drive and love for the game. from the sounds of things, he really likes to wear his sunglasses at night more that he likes playing america's better past time for $$$. my friends and i would pay money to have half of the "ability that Matt "BUST" Jones has

I know it is very easy to sit back and just trash Matt. For me it is utter disappointment. I have known him since he was about 10 or so. Back in Hot Springs I used to throw with him when some of us went to have lunch at his house, as his mom and I worked together. For you all it is a game of just spending time drilling a guy when he is down. For others it is fun time pounding on him. Yes we have all been disappointed. I followed the Jags games and will continue to do so. I took great pride in seeing him play, both at Arkansas and with the Jags. Sooooo much talent--dammit to lose it all for some coke. He was not the first and he will not be the last.
So, enjoy the trashing as I know it is popular with these zones. For the rest of you that actually care about him and his family--they are going through a huge amount of pain. Maybe you trashers will have it happen to a member of your family, or maybe a friend, or maybe to one of your favorite players.
There is nothing like having it hit home personally. For me, I honestly hope he cleans his act up and lives up to his potential. After all is said and done, the future of a very bright young man hangs in the balance.
Parse your words well as his mom and dad will probably have some of this thrown in their faces by the press or just by reading these incredibly worthless posts.
In closing, this post will probably be responded to in the same bashing manner. It does not matter. What matters is something totally different than-- I really think any of you understand--or even care.

I don't think the comments found in this particular thread is about simply chastising someone for the sake of it. If someone is not performing at a certain level and/or makes a bad decision they will be drawn to some criticism regardless what profession they're involved in. Cry foul all you like, but that's life. Besides, I don't recall anything terribly vindictive posted here.
I don't know or understand why Jones was found with cocaine. I don't walk in his shoes, and personally, it might be sad. Then again, I don't know the man, he has nothing to do with my life so I'm not really all that choked about it either. I don't get wrapped up in the lives of athletes very much, or celebs for that matter. As far as football goes.. for all the skills he may possess, he has not panned out too well here, so if he happens to be cut at some point I won't be very disappointed. So you can go ahead and deem that as worthless as well, those are my opinions. And for your info, I know a member of my family who was hooked on drugs and eventually succumbed to them, it was a sad situation. I don't know the circumstances nor did I ever really know the person. I wonder if anything, if that indivdual ever really got any help to kick such a bad habit, maybe none was wanted. I lost another relative last year, it was someone I knew and it was not easy to deal with, even now I am honestly completely not over it. So maybe some of us "trashers" have not traveled the easiest of roads in life either, whether it's a passing of a loved one or because we're human and will make mistakes as well, but maybe not dwell on the mistakes, and the criticism that might come with it, and just move on.

i personally believe that if you are in the public eye, you should not only be held to a higher standard, but you should hold yourself to one as well. i am not afraid to have someone else talk about my actions. every morning matt jones has to look himself in the mirror. knowing he has tried to showboat, knowing that he has not performed to the expectations of his fans. how many kids have a matt jones jersey? why wasn't matt more aware of what he has done. when he is done with prison, he can always speak at the rookie symposium, but he will probably have as much enthusiasm as he has shown since becoming a jaguar. IMHO: total disapointment. i was pulling for matt to make the team and show the world he was worth reaching into the first round for. MOJO seems like he cares about the game, matt enjoys those 1st round paystubs, too bad they are not going to be in his pocket much longer.
